Named, rather surreally, after the 17th-century artist G. F. Barbieri, who was called “Il Guercino” due to his pronounced squint, this traditional property is situated in a residential area close to the railway station. The 40 spacious guestrooms feature soothing cream décor, complemented by brightly coloured fabrics, cool tiled floors and oak wood furnishings. All are clean and well equipped, as are the tiled en suite bathrooms. In fine weather the hotel offers a Continental style buffet breakfast among the olive trees on the rooftop terrace. Featuring wrought iron furniture, this is also the perfect venue for an evening drink. There’s also a warmly decorated breakfast room and a business centre on site.
